| H+H UK Ltd have teamed up with Scott ELM to provide a service to our customers which once again proves our commitment to sustainability within construction.
Working closely with Scott ELM and customers, both Housebuilders and Builders Merchants, H+H has helped reclaim approximately 15% of the pallets which are sent out with our deliveries during 2011.
As you will see from the graph below, this is a major improvement on the pallets we reclaimed during both 2009 and 2010. It is anticipated that this vital work will continue and it is anticipated that up to 200,000 pallets will be reclaimed through this initiative during 2012, equating to around 30% of our annual pallet use.
This initiative is completely free to H+H customers and the very unique way in which Scott ELM manages their business ensures that customers are provided with the easiest and most effective methods for collection. Even though the service is designed to help H+H reclaim pallets, the operation run by Scott ELM works with all companies that provide product on pallets and not only H+H pallets are collected from site at any one time.
Provided the site or yard has a minimum of 30 pallets ready for collection, whether whole or damaged, Scott ELM will provide a collection service. The pallets are then returned to the Scott ELM depots where they are sorted:
Having determined the condition of the pallet, they are sorted by company (e.g., H+H pallets) and returned to our depot for re-use. Pallets originally provided by other suppliers and who are members of the scheme are similarly reclaimed and returned to the depots of each company, allowing the re-use of pallets for many companies.
