The thermal performance of the completed floor depends on the ratio of the floor’s exposed perimeter length (P) to area (A). Using the Flooring System offers a simple solution that meets both structural and thermal requirements, giving a U-value of 0.25W/m²K to meet the Elemental Method:
• For a P/A of 0.6 (typical of a detached house) this floor with aircrete foundations and without any other floor insulation will achieve the requirements.
• For a P/A of 0.45 (typical of a semi-detached house) this floor without edge or any other insulation will achieve the requirements.
The Flooring System will accommodate both traditional screeds and leveling screeds; other types of finishes can also be used.
The imposed load capacity of floor elements is 5.0 kN/m².
Total long-term deflections are limited to span/250. This should normally ensure that the part of deflection occurring after construction of finishes and partitions will be limited to span/350.
As with other pre-cast flooring systems, our Flooring System at ground floor requires an under floor ventilation space of not less than 250mm.
Dealing with services
Elements have a zone below the top surface into which services may be chased or cut. Our 600mm wide elements can accommodate local cut-outs of approximately 150mm square.
