Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Pollington
Report to: Engineering Manager


Main Purpose of Job:

The purpose of the Manufacturing Engineer is to develop, implement and govern capable methods of manufacture, including process improvements of problem solving, re-engineering and capital investment.

Main Responsibilities:

Strategy & Development

  • Contribute and be accountable for the development and implementation of the best practice manufacturing vision, strategies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve operational performances
  • Identify business improvement opportunities in line with best practice within the industry

General Task Management

  • Develop the manufacturing capability and technology (including IT requirements) to ensure delivery of the customers’ requirements
  • Active involvement on the Reliability Centred Maintenance program (RCM) of plant and equipment to improve asset performance
  • Hold ownership of the Failure Mode Effect Analysis documents and ensure accurate upkeep and deployment at all times
  • Drive process improvements on Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) by appropriate data analysis and problem-solving techniques with effective root cause established
  • Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with all HSE policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all staff and visitors 
  • Ensure contractors on site meet and adhere to legal and company requirements
  • Maintain a clean and tidy workplace in relation to set standards

Relationship Management

  • Work as part of the Engineering/Maintenance Team to share ideas, improve operations, recommending, supporting and implementing continuous improvement activities, process and procedure improvements to optimise and improve machine efficiency and reduce breakdowns, in line with Company and customer requirements
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance
  • Ensure an effective interface with other departmental staff is maintained
  • Liaise and engage with other departments
  • Work collaboratively with others
  • Recommend solutions without compromising on quality or service whilst optimising cost
  • Stay current and up to date on technical knowledge to enable effect solutions
  • Contribute to new business initiatives and projects

  • Support, comply and ensure compliance with all Health and Safety regulations, Quality and Environmental standards, the Company Handbook and all Company Policies and Procedures

Knowledge, Key Skill and Experience

  • Excellent interpersonal skills 
  • Excellent organisation and follow up skills
  • Able to work as part of a multi-disciplined team
  • Knowledge of relevant Engineering & Manufacturing Engineering standards and HSE Regulations 
  • HNC or equivalent, with experience of working in a Manufacturing Engineering role or Foundation degree with some practical experience 
  • Adaptable to ever changing demands / working under pressure
  • Experienced in the use of problem-solving tools and techniques
  • Able to communicate at various levels using a variety of techniques 
  • Can do attitude and approach
  • Self-motivated
  • Responsible for progressing own development
