Job Title: Shift Electrical Engineer

We are looking for an enthusiastic Shift Electrical Engineer to join our Borough Green Site near Sevenoaks.   The Shift Electrical Engineer role is part of the site maintenance team for the UK’s largest and most successful Aircrete facility.

The H+H UK business is headquartered near to Sevenoaks in Kent. H+H is a market leader, having been established as Celcon in 1949, with the first factory to produce precast aerated concrete blocks and screed being built in 1958. Today it operates three factories, one in Borough Green in Kent which is also the UK Head Office, and two on the same campus in Pollington in Yorkshire. H+H UK employs over 250 people and enjoys a market share of c.40%.  
 

Role Responsibilities:

  • Works within the Engineering Shift Team, providing breakdown assistance as and when required.
  • Carry out reactive and preventative maintenance to all electrical plant to a high standard, thereby maximising plant availability, minimising plant failures and ensuring continued high product quality.
  • Co-operate with maintenance supervision in the operation of planned maintenance and lubrication schedules.
  • Ensure that personnel are not exposed to danger from any electrical plant or equipment, that all guards and safety devices are secure and operational and that all personnel are alert to the dangers when working with or on moving plant or equipment.
  • At all times be aware of and comply with the company safety policy, The Health and Safety at Work Act, and any other safety specific instructions as may be issued by the company from time to time.
  • Co-operate in the operation of the company permit to work system, always ensuring that an adequate risk assessment is performed prior to working on steam, compressed air, hydraulic systems, materials handling systems, or any other potentially hazardous system or work location and that suitable control measures are employed to minimise all risks to acceptable levels.
  • Monitor the performance of all plant whilst production is in progress, attempting to predict failures where possible, minimising disruption to operations and ensuring that plant’s continued safe operation.  Record details of problems encountered with the plant in the shift log to assist with continuity between shift teams.
  • Move the Engineering Department toward a 5s culture
  • Support the Maintenance Supervisor and the Engineering Manager to deliver on Capital Projects, ensuring that all equipment and workmanship is of a high standard.
  • Provide ‘hands on’ electrical support during shutdown periods and the weekly scheduled maintenance time. 

Knowledge, skills and experience required:

The job requires:

  • Time-served maintenance craft team member - ONC / NVQ Level 3 Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • 17th or 18th edition wiring regulations certified
  • Applicants will be expected to be able to use electrical test equipment, read schematic diagrams and have experience in single and 3 phase installations including motors, inverters and PLC’s.
  • Previous and specific experience in a similar hands-on Electrical Maintenance Engineer position within a heavy engineering continuous production process.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in corrective maintenance and fault finding
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and maintenance CMMS systems
