Leading aircrete manufacturer H + H has supplied Celcon Blocks to its local Parish Council in Borough Green for a community hall rebuild, after it was destroyed in an arson attack.
H+H provided 7,000 Celcon Blocks to build the new hall and changing area, saving the project nearly £4,000.
Chairman of Borough Green Parish Council Mike Taylor said: “We’ve needed these state of the art facilities for a long time now and we’re hoping it’ll encourage local people to come to Borough Green as well as encourage our three local football teams to go up the league!”
The hall, called Potters Mead, will be an energy efficient building, as the blocks provided by H+H provide insulation for the external walls. Being made of aircrete, Celcon Blocks have excellent inherent thermal insulation properties compared with alternative, dense blocks.
This means the less energy used to heat the hall, the less money spent on energy bills by the Parish Council.
“We’re using the extra money that’s been saved to buy other energy efficient features such as solar panels which will keep running costs as low as possible”, Mike added.
Ed Surman, Production Director at H+H said: “We were very keen to help out with this project. It’ll be an excellent resource for the community and as a local business we’re proud we could save the project money by supplying them with sustainable building materials.”
The project, which started in April this year, is due to be completed in the next few months Ightham based H + H is the largest manufacturer of aircrete products in the UK, has been in business for more than 50 years and employs around 100 at its Borough Green Head Office.
