Super Trowel 2025

As an industry, we rely on skilled trades to bring housing projects to life - but they don’t always get the recognition they deserve.

The Super Trowel Competition celebrates the UK’s top bricklayers, offering a rare chance to shine a light on the talent driving our industry forward. Over 2,500 people from the bricklaying and wider construction community attended the Super Trowel Final which took place over two days in August.

This year saw the introduction of the Masters Competition, showcasing the creativity and craftsmanship involved in bricklaying. Each of the four talented competitors designed their own submissions and had two days to build and make them a reality.

Congratulations to the overall winner, Dean Haywood who was praised for his intricate design and exceptional brickwork craftsmanship. Dean will recreate his winning design at a new Design Centre currently under construction in Digbeth, Birmingham.

Speed and precision

The finale of the Super Trowel Final was an exciting speed competition to find the country’s fastest bricklayer. The results were staggering.

Cole Stamper was crowned the UK’s fastest bricklayer, laying a whopping 719 bricks in one hour to take home the trophy. Following closely behind was defending and two-time champion Charlie Collison who laid 709 bricks to take second place.

The competition didn’t only involve those with years of experience however, a special Juniors category for apprentice bricklaying championed the next generation of bricklayers coming up through the ranks.

Apprentices from York College, Southern Regional College and Hertford Regional College took part, with Harry Stevenson laying 179 bricks in the time allotted to be crowned Junior Champion. We look forward to following Harry’s progress and wish him the best of luck as he goes on to represent the UK at Specmix Las Vegas next year.
