Our initiative to eliminate working from height has won a major Health and Safety Award
The Best Health & Safety in Manufacturing category at the delayed Safety & Health Excellence Awards 2020 has been awarded to H+H for the initiative to improve safety in our yards and transportation.
There are two elements to the safety programme introduced during 2019: the first saw a complete reorganisation of our Pollington Yard. This sees a strict one-way system with access routes re-designed and signage updated.
The second element focuses specifically on eliminating any working from height – which in the case of our yards means instituting an entirely mechanical loading and unloading process to stop people having to climb onto the back of lorries.
Jenny Smith-Andrews, Head of Marketing of H+H UK, piled on the praise for the H+H team “H+H UK winning this award is testament to the forward-thinking and dedicated team we have here. Their tireless efforts to ensure that all of our staff in our Yards can complete their work in a healthy and safe environment has been deservedly recognised.”
The Safety and Health Excellence Awards, organised in conjunction with the British Safety Industry Federation, saw entries from a wide range of industry sectors. The awards, hosted online by Alistair McGowan, celebrate the best in safety, health, security and fire practices and initiatives.
H+H had stiff competition in this year’s awards, with over 200 entries across 10 categories and 8 shortlisted organisations within the Best Health & Safety in Manufacturing category.
