Course on the Design of masonry to Eurocode 6

Eurocode 6.org have arranged a course at the offices of H+H UK Ltd

Date:  18th June 2014 commencing 9.30 am

The course is aimed to encourage attendance from all those interested in the design of masonry to the Eurocode.

This course will provide an overview of the changes in both the design procedures and supporting documents resulting from the introduction of the European Codes and Standards and compare the new requirements with the previous British Standard BS 5628.

Introduction:
Masonry is one of the key construction materials used in the UK and is used both as a loadbearing material and as a cladding to framed structures. Brick and block masonry remain the primary construction materials for houses in the UK and are used extensively in buildings of all types. Masonry structures have withstood the test of time and proven the inherent durability and structural integrity of masonry. Today’s masonry structures make use of modern materials and design methods to provide cost effective structural solutions. The introduction of the European Codes and the supporting CEN standards provides both new opportunities and challenges for designers.
