H+H MMC System Wins Housebuilder Award

i-HouseTM, the offsite system based on aircrete, has won the Best Building Fabric category of the Housebuilder Product Awards for the second time

The i-House system designed, manufactured and installed through a unique collaboration between Roofspace Solutions and H+H UK Ltd, has just been announced as the winner of the Building Fabric category of the Housebuilder Product Awards 2021.

i-HouseTM is based on Celcon Elements: storey-high panels of aircrete that are craned into place to form the load-bearing fabric of a house. Combined with prefabricated first floor cassettes and a prefabricated roof structure, the whole package is installed on site by a dedicated contracting team from Roofspace Solutions.

The result is a complete, watertight shell of a standard house type completed within a week on site, removing brickwork from the critical path and allowing follow-on trades to start on site much earlier.

Working on a recent project using the i-House system, Chris Gray, Senior Construction Site Manager at Lovell Homes, said: “I believe Crown Meadows will be a much quicker build, from start to finish….. recently a plot went from being a concrete pad to us laying the roof tiles within two weeks – everything fits like a Lego set!”

This is the second time i-House has won this category of the Housebuilder Product Awards – previously taking the top spot in 2017 when the first prototype houses had been completed. Since then, i-House has been successfully employed to build over 1,500 homes. It is grabbing attention for its unique combination of the speed of offsite with the trusted performance of aircrete.

H+H MD Calum Forsyth is delighted with the win. “It’s great to see that four years on, this innovative building system is still recognised as outstanding. The award proves again that aircrete has much to offer when it comes to Modern Methods of Construction.”

Paul Terry, Managing Director at Roofspace Solutions is equally pleased: “Since winning an award for the first time back in 2017, we feel the system and business has moved forward with innovation and expertise delivering quality and cost certainty to the widening customer base using i-House. We look forward to our continued partnership with H+H as we continue to develop and evolve in these ever-changing times.”

In 2017 i-House went on to win the overall product of the year category at the prestigious Housebuilder Awards and H+H is certainly hoping that this double-success will be repeated this year.
